ParisCombo2.jpg.One of the most distinct, intriguing groups on the international music scene, Paris Combo celebrates a rich diversity of world styles—and deposits them in the setting of a chic Parisian cabaret. Fronted by chanteuse, songwriter, and accordionist Belle du Berry, the quintet has found a jazzy and intriguing twist on the French song-book tradition. After five albums (the latest, titled simply 5, is the reason for this don’t-miss U.S. tour) and a decade touring the globe, Paris Combo has wowed critics and audiences with its genre-defying mix of jazz, French pop, cabaret, gypsy, Latino and Middle Eastern rhythms. The Los Angeles Times came close to categorizing the Combo, comparing it to swing-revivalists Squirrel Nut Zippers and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, but Billboard simplified it even further: “The coolest sounds on either side of the Atlantic.”
