Michael J. Sandel takes up one of our biggest ethical questions: Isn’t there something wrong with a world in which everything is for sale? From paying children to read to hiring mercenaries to fight our wars, the legendary Harvard professor argues, we have drifted from having a market economy to being a market society. Sandel filled Town Hall when he visited in 2009 with his international bestseller Justice; in his new book, What Money Can’t Buy, he wonders: How can we prevent market values from reaching into spheres of life where they don’t belong? And what are the moral limits of markets? Presented by the Town Hall Center for Civic Life with Elliott Bay Book Company. Series media sponsorship provided by PubliCola.
