Seattle Radio Theatre: ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Redux

Great Hall; enter on 8th Avenue. $15-$5.

Literary

Seattle Radio Theatre is participating in a national radio drama project called “Sleepy Hollow: The Ride Across America,” in which radio performance troupes perform their own live versions of Washington Irving’s classic horror story on Halloween weekend. New England’s adaptation of the original story goes first, then as darkness falls to the west, the story is told in later time periods. SRT’s mission from the project organizers: Produce a “futuristic” adaptation of the story. Ooh. That is scary. Seattle Radio Theatre's adaptation of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” moves Washington Irving's classic story from 18th century New York to 1941 in the Pacific Northwest.  A hardboiled (more like “poached”) Seattle detective named Irving Washington tries to figure out what happened to Ichabod Crane, and stumbles across the real reason why all those people in the Skagit Valley town of Concrete panicked during the “War of the Worlds” broadcast. SRT’s production features actors Pat Cashman, Tracey Conway, Jim Dever, C.R. Douglas, John Maynard, Dolores Rogers, and Lee Callahan; all performances nationwide, complete with live sound effects, will be recorded on a CD available for sale at the website below. Presented by Seattle Radio Theatre.

Advance tickets are $13 /$10 Town Hall members, students & seniors/$5 kids 12 and under at Brown Paper Tickets or 800/838-3006; $15 /$13 Town Hall members, students & seniors/$5 kids 12 and under at the door. Audience must be seated by 7:45 pm. No late seating.
